(Forsyth County) Relentless Conservative Todd Jones continues to rack up support from community leaders in Forsyth County. Today, Phillip Barlag, leader of the grassroots organization Sharon Springs Alliance, announced his endorsement of Jones’ campaign. Barlag issued the following statement:
“As the only candidate in this race from Forsyth County, Todd understands the issues that are most important to our families.
As a homeowner, Todd knows that something must be done about steadily rising property taxes and stagnant property values. As a parent, Todd knows we must reign in overdevelopment that is negatively impacting our schools. As an active member of our community, Todd knows the importance of allowing us to decide for ourselves how this community is represented at the local level.
Todd will fight for our interests at the state capitol, and he will protect our right to decide the future of Sharon Springs for ourselves. We can trust him to represent us at the state capitol, and not bow down to special interests when things get tough. That’s why I’m turning to Todd on May 24th.”
Barlag’s endorsement follows an announcement last week that Rep. Dudgeon had introduced revised legislation to allow for a vote on Sharon Springs. By introducing the bill before officially leaving office, Dudgeon has given his replacement a head start when it comes to deciding the future of Sharon Springs. South Forsyth residents could decide the issue by a vote some time in 2017.
Jones voiced his appreciation for Barlag’s support:
“Phillip has done an extraordinary job leading the Sharon Springs movement. As a resident of Forsyth County, I understand the strain that has been placed on our infrastructure over the last few years and the importance of letting voters decide this important issue. I look forward to seeing this through if elected to serve House District 25.”
